I love photographing maternity boudoir...it is just so special. I particularly LOVED photographing Ms. J. We bonded right away and found ourselves chatting for hours past the photo session and the viewing appointment. We have so much in common and I just know we are going to cross paths again. Maybe a playdate with our kids or maybe a creative shoot where she has promised to build me a an elaborate set. :) I asked Ms. J about her experience at Modern Muse and here is what she had to say:
If you know me....you know I change my mind no less than 100 times a day. I guess that is my over-creative brain working. Many times my ideas are total flops and every once in a while I totally nail it. (Its all about to keep trying, right?) Enter our new dark studio set which is a total home run. I honestly can't believe I have been in that studio for 4 years and never noticed the light and potential on that side of the room. The dark gray walls look so soft (almost milky) and just oooze sensuality. I added a gray tufted bed, charcoal linenes and dark drapes. And I am dying over that yummy light...it just skims the body in all the right places. I invited Ms. J over for some test shots last week and I am super stoked on the results.

Hooray for repeat clients! I have had the pleasure of having several "second time around" clients in the studio lately and I am loving it! Ms. K is so amazing and we share so much in common. We chatted about our kids, vegan diets and her amazing husband and friends. Like long lost girlfriends just catching up. Sometimes I pinch myself that this is actually my job. I get to hang out with super cool women and take beautiful images of them. So please enjoy some of my favorites from Ms. K's session and her what she had to say about her experience.

Photographing clients the second time around is simply the best. It feels like old girlfriends getting together. We catch up, laugh, talk about our kids, favorite tv shows and play dress up. I recently photographed Ms. J the second time and it was amazing. I love that she brings clothing pieces in addition to her lingerie (she wore a little black dress in her last shoot). We just adore Janelle and think she is so stunning! Here entire session will be broken up into two different posts and we will be leading off with her Gorgeous Light sets. Listen to what Janelle had to say about her Modern Muse experience.

The moment Ms. C walked into our studio I fell in love with her and her spirit. She, on the other-hand, was nervous and very open about all of her insecurities. I was immediately drawn to her face and a certain connection in her eyes. I just couldn't see any of the things that were causing her so much self-doubt. Once we got into hair and make-up I quickly learned we had a very big thing in common. We were both single mothers. Not just single parents, but the only parent. I know what kind of struggle that is and know that it can also add to a loss in your self-esteem. Ms. C had triumphed over many hurdles before she came to see me, but one of the biggest was lying ahead. Was she capable of looking and feeling beautiful? Would she love her images? Or would she fall back into the comfortable yet painful state of self-doubt. Below you will get to hear how the experience was for her and how she felt about her images.

I am finally getting around to blogging one of the first boudoir sessions I photographed in the new "Dark" space. This session was everything that fills my soul as an artist and more. Ms. L is just one of the types of women...and she is fierce AF. When she took out her outfit options...I squealed like a giddy school girl. Everything was so fashion forward and fit like a glove. But as much as I loved her outfits, my favorites were the tasteful topless images. Something I have been doing more and more of. So without further ado...here is Ms. L. Please enjoy and leave a comment below if you are so inclined.
Welcome to our new boudoir shooting space...so perfect for our Dark & Daring sessions. The light is simply delicious! This space is in the same building as our current studio and is the complete opposite of the bright, feminine big sister. Outfitted with moody lighting and dark wood floors...it is the perfect space to create a moody vibe. I love the simplicity of the space and how the light just kisses the body. Stay tuned for more!

Ms. K came in to a session with us as a groom's gift for her fiance. She was a blast to photograph and was a natural when the session started. I thought she looked like a modern Snow White with her raven hair and porcelain skin. I loved the white lingerie with lace robe she choose for her first outfit. The detail looks amazing next to her dark hair and vibrant lip. For the second outfit, we decided on the (client favorite) white sheet set. So crisp and clean....and a perfect bridal look.
Here is what she had to say about encouraging her friends to do their own session.

Well, I am getting all settled in the new studio space and I am LOVING it! The light is everything I hoped for and exactly the direction I want the style of images to take. I invited the beautiful Ashley Angel over for a session to demonstrate what a boudoir session in the new space would look like. Here are a few examples from the session. Enjoy!
Greetings all! Well, it has taken me a bit to finally put this in words and send it into the universe...so here it goes. After much thought I have decided to move out of my wonderful space that has been my magical boudoir home for almost 4 years. It was so hard to finally put in the notice to terminate my lease. That space means a lot and has really helped define my style. In that space I have created some of my best work to date, met so many amazing clients I consider friends, collaborated with the most talented models and won some international awards. And it is my little piece of heaven...my zen. But, like any artist, I have to stretch my wings and chase new ideas. And that little space is just not enough to hold all of the creativity I want to pursue. So where will I end up? Right back where I first started...a studio in my private residence. In my home the scenarios and looks are unlimited, more luxurious, floor to ceiling windows and plans for a dedicated outdoor space with a clawfoot tub. It is something I have been dreaming of for years. And the light....oh the light. It is the exact reason I bought my home in the first place. I will share more details on the new space as it develops. But for now I will be shooting sessions in the current studio until December 31st. And as a huge thank you to all of my past clients, fans, supporters and VIP's....I will be offering a very special package session until the end of the year. Make sure you sign up for the newsletter to receive the offer.
I am so excited to share these images of Ms. J's outdoor boudoir session taken at Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Oklahoma. We traveled just over two hours from Oklahoma City but it was TOTALLY worth it. Little Sahara has been on my list to shoot for a a few years and I just knew Ms. J was the perfect person for it! We styled her with a nude lingerie set, boho lace coverup and statement jewelry for a perfect Desert Rose look. We battled high winds (25-30 mph OMG), harsh sun, off road vehicles, possible snakes and I even had a sprained ankle. Try walking in deep sand with heavy gear and a sprained ankle. But Ms. J and I handled it like pros and I couldn't be happier with the images. They far exceeded my expectations of what this location could be and I have a serious desire to shoot more outdoor boudoir. I want to especially thank Ms. J for her amazing spirit, beauty and the openness to entertain my crazy idea. So, I hope you enjoy....I know we did!
